Candiates: Think Twice about Using “Easy Apply” on ZipRecruiter, Indeed and others

“Easy Apply” on ZipRecruiter, Indeed and other Job Boards

Most recruiters I talk to say they just delete them without even looking.

“Easy applies” on many of the job boards allow you to quickly send a resume directly to a recruiter without filling out a long application. This is especially valuable for users on mobile, since most candidates don’t have a resume saved on their mobile device; submitting an application with their job board profile makes applying on the go easy. However, they often look terrible and don’t give the recruiter enough useful information.

So, be careful when submitting your resume through Indeed and other job board generated resumes delivery services. While these systems make it very convenient to send your resume to multiple jobs or from a cell phone, be aware that they can produce a generic “one size fits all” style that quite often deletes too much information and destroys all of the hard work you put into formatting a good resume. Whenever possible, avoid the “Easy Apply” button and attach your own resume! If you are serious about your job search be sure your formatted resume goes to the recruiter whenever possible.
